So, my new favorite song: "Low" by Flo Rida.
Is it bad when I go to look up the lyrics and I should be embarassed by what they are?
Apparently white country girls shouldn't be listening to this kind of stuff.
Perhaps it's time to look for a new favorite song........

Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose....
Let me just say this: I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when I bought these tickets for my Mom because to be honest, aside from her music, I knew nothing about Janis Joplin, but this musical freakin' ROCKED! You learn about her insecurities, her struggles, her addictions, her feelings, her loves, her life, and in 2 words it was: simply amazing. It was set up where one actress played the talking Janis and one actress/singer played the singing Janis. Sometimes they interacted together. It was beautifully done and the girl who played the singing Janis sounded JUST LIKE HER. It was awesome. So if you ever get the chance to see it, take the chance, you won't be disappointed. When we left the Majestic, I came home and looked some stuff up on youtube. I think I was there for like an hour watching all the interviews and stuff. I'm intrigued by her. She was a troubled soul. I feel sorry for her. She died way too soon. When she dies in the musical, I cried. I was that touched and saddened. When a freakin' musical can make you cry, then you know its good. haha Now if I could just get "take it, take another little piece of my heart now baby" out of my head, all will be ok.
I told my Mom I was done with 60s artist for a little while....Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin in the same week almost sent me into overload! haha
I didn't do anything else really the rest of the weekend except on Sunday when I went to my grandparents and spent the day with them and took my Papaw out for his birthday dinner.
It was a great weekend.

Is your name Patsy?
I have never seen so many people from different walks of life in one room before last night. And, believe it or not I actually had fun. I can't say I understood 95% of the things he "sang," but it was fun none-the-less! I saw some interesting dancing techniques. And alot of drunk old people. Crocodile Dundee was there or at least his protege' was. And these 2 tall guys come out of no where and stand right in front of me and Deidre and I said loudly, "Uh-Huh I don't think so" and they moved back over. Hello dummies we're short! Good grief. Deidre and I started making a game out of "guess the lyrics" during the later part of the show. During one song he started saying something about Alicia Keys and I was like, why the heck is he talking about Alicia Keys and Deidre says I'm not really sure he's saying that, it's probably just what we think we're hearing....but guess what!!!
I was thinkin' 'bout Alicia Keys, couldn't keep from crying
When she was born in Hell's Kitchen, I was living down the line
I'm wondering where in the world Alicia Keys could be
I been looking for her even clear through Tennessee
We actually think it's a bit weird that he was singing about her. I mean he's old enough to be her grandfather right?
Anyways, during above song we decided to head to the back near the doors so we could be one of the first in line to get the car from valet when this guy walks up to me and goes, "Is your name Patsy?" Of course I said no. I was thinking do I look like a Patsy and you're old enough to be MY grandfather, so I doubt I'm the girl you're looking for! haha I did buy an eco bag with a Dylan logo on it. The merch guy told me I was saving the dolphins.
So this weekend I'm going to see the musical, "Love, Janis" about Janis Joplin's life through her own words and lyrics. I'm excited about it. And I will probably make it out to Gilleys to see Johnny Cooper.
Today is my Papaw's birthday. So happy birthday to him!
Everyone have a safe weekend!

Pixie dust and other things
Deidre wanted me to tell the story of Johnny Cooper's Mom at the Hat Tricks show I went to a weekend ago. I was there enjoying the show and Johnny's Mom was walking around in her same eccentric glasses and crazy curly hair with her pixie dust shaker out (really it was glitter)....shaking it all over everyone. "Here I have some pixie dust for you." I think I don't really get the reason for pixie dust, but his Mom is crazy and fun, so I just sorta laughed it off. And you know how hard it is to get glitter off of you and your hair.......ugh.
So this weekend I went to an engagement party for Scott and Kristin. It was a wine tasting party beforehand. I have never been a fan of wine, but it was fun getting to taste different things and I even found one that I liked! And I also found out that I'm not really a red wine fan. But that's ok. I think I had about the reddest cheeks ever after the wine tasting. Those of you who have been around me when I drink know how my cheeks get, so just imagine how unbelieveably red they were. Goodness! I, unfortunately, don't really know Kristin that well, but what I read from her on her blogs, etc. makes me really like her. And I chose a long time ago to forget about the first night we met, so I hope she has too because I don't want to be labeled as the girl who thought......she knows what I'm talking about ;) Scott seems really happy and I'm happy that he's found someone that makes him that happy.
Anyway, wine makes me have red cheeks. haha After the wine tasting and a few minutes of mingling Deidre and I headed to Gilley's to meet up with Tracey to see No Justice. I freakin' love No Justice. And I heart Steve Rice. And we have a new favorite...Armando. He thinks Tracey is a cool kid. I'm a cool kid too. I don't know if it's by association or not, but hey, that's ok! We 3 had a good time.
The boys we always see at EYB shows were there, so we decided to have fun with them. But, if they had said one more time, "Hey Steve drink your beer" I may have used Deidre's gun to shoot them. (jk she didn't have it with her!) There was also this random boy that kept staring at me then finally leaned over and said, "Hey were you here for Reckless Kelly?" My first thought was, oh good grief did I make a fool of myself that night? THEN I remembered that was the night we didn't drink because of our night with Mike McClure the previous evening, so I was certain that I was not as crazy as Chanda. So I said, "yes, why?" He goes, "oh I was here and I was standing by you." Lord, I don't remember him even beeing there. I do remember Amazon standing at the front of the stage in front of all of us. So I just stared at him. Later, I remembered something and I said to him, "I know you were at McClure at Hank's a month back because I stood right next to you." (note: I did make a fool of myself that night, but its ok) So all of a sudden I guess he's our new best friend because he keeps trying to talk to us and takes pics of us with Deidre's camera, etc. So at the end of the night, Deidre goes, "are you single?" He says, "Yes." She says, "Let me give you a little advice, if you ever want to have a date, go home and burn that shirt. I don't ever want to see you wear that shirt again." I have never laughed so hard in my entire life. This boy had his hair slicked back like Stephen Baldwin. (that's what we kept calling him) He's in serious need of a make over. I think Deidre's just the person to take on the job.....
Thursday I'm off to see Bob Dylan with Deidre and Lori. Should be interesting. I'll let you girls know how it goes.....
