Rock, Paper, Scissors

I had an eventful weekend! On Friday night Deidre, Mom, and I went to Winstar Casino to see Gary Allan. If you've never been to a concert there, I'd highly recommend it only if you buy VIP or the sections on either sides of the stage....to row FF. Behind row FF is a rope that separates it from the rest of the crowd. When the performer begins everyone runs to the front of the stage and remains there for the rest of the show. Kinda like being at Gilleys, but better. I've never seen Gary Allan live. To be honest, I've never LOVED Gary Allan until recent months. He won me over on Friday night. From full band to solo acoustic to full band acoustic back to full band he rocked the stage and gained my respect. I can't wait to see him again on October 24th at Starplex with my EYB boys.
On the drive home I convinced them to stop at Shooters to see if the Motorcars were there Friday night or Saturday night because on the way up there we could tell on the sign. Well, it was double bonus night because they were there and still playing and so we went in and listened to the rest of the show. I saw 2 Garys in one night and it was amazing.
The next afternoon my friend of 21 years, Karen, got married. It was a very short but sweet ceremony (like maybe 10 minutes at the most) and then we all went to South Fork Ranch for the reception. It was all beautiful. And Karen was so pretty and happy. I drank some Shiners, ate some food, hung out at the fun girls table, had my picture taken in the photo booth with 2 of my favorites, and when I started getting up to go dance on the dance floor I decided that it was time for me to leave. So at 10 pm I left.
I drove home and changed clothes and drove to Dallas to meet up with Deidre and we went to Adairs. Another bonus for the weekend was Ryan Bales playing there. So I drank way too many princess drinks to the point I felt like throwing up. I couldn't even drink the jagerbomb Deidre bought. The 2 Joels were working and don't think B Joel didn't remind me of the shimmy I did the week before. And once when we needed drink refills those 2 jerks did rock, paper, scissors to decide who HAD to wait on us. They thought it was funny, we didn't. I've decided to not do redbull drinks anymore, from now on I'm gonna do cranberry juice and vodka because I couldn't sleep to save my life that night from all the redbull I had consumed. Ugh. I think we finally ended up leaving about 2:30 am.
So Sunday I didn't do a darn thing but lounge on the couch. Then about 1 pm I crashed and slept until 4:30.
I'm actually looking forward to this weekend because I'm not doing anything. I'm not going out. I'm not stepping foot in Adairs. I'll be in Allen if anybody needs me :)

I don't think so

I've had a lot of "I don't think so" moments lately.

Let me get the "date" answer out of the way:
Yes, I had a date, it was so long ago, that right now it's almost laughable. I went out with a guy that I've known since I was probably 20. We tried the whole dating thing before, and I'm willing to admit I let my friends at the time influence me into not persuing the relationship further. And today I'm quite ok with that decision. In no way am I saying there's anything wrong with him, we are just 2 completely different people with different priorities, who just happen to have a couple things in common. So for the date I went to his new swanky loft apartment in downtown Dallas and he cooked me dinner and we watched a movie and some Michael Jackson funeral stuff. Yes, the date was THAT long ago! We talked alot about what's been going on in our lives. I was there probably 4 hours. And finally I just said I've got to get home. It was already past my bed time! I had a good time, but realistically, I just don't see us being anything but friends, and that's ok!

ok so let me just explain my little adventure to Adairs this past Saturday. Since Adairs is a favorite among the what 4 readers of this blog, then you'll at least get a laugh out of my embarassment. So Michelle, Deidre, and I are there around midnight and we are sitting at the bar. Cue the band in the background playing one original song to every 5 cover songs. The band just happens to be playing "The Joker." Michelle and I are singing along...."really love your peaches want to shake your tree" to which I do the little shimmy part. Out of nowhere Big Joel comes from the end of the bar towards me and asks if I just shook my and points to what is obviously my boobs. I told him maybe I did. He goes as loud as you all know Big Joel can be, "Dawn, you just shook your boobies?!?! do it again do it again." and then cue his Big Joel laugh. I. am. mortified. I'm 10 shades of red and yelling at him to leave me alone. But, of course he doesn't. He asks me why my face is the same color as my drink (redbull vodka with grenadine, my princess drink as Deidre likes to call it) and I just tell him to shut it and leave me alone. He walks away laughing his Big Joel laugh. About 2 minutes the girl bartender (sorry I can't remember her name) walks towards us and I'm thinking she's coming to see if we need more drinks but no. She asks me why my cheeks are so red. I tell her to tell Joel to leave me alone that he's not funny. She just laughs and I can hear him from the other end of the bar laughing. So, I learned to never shake any part of my body in Adairs. That's an "I don't think so" moment.

Here's another "I don't think so" moment for you, courtesy again of Adairs. So we're standing outside because it's now closing time with Lil Joel and he's talking to us. There's these 2 girls that are waiting for him to follow them to her house or something or another. The one driving jingles her keys over her head and yells rally. He tells them just a minute or whatever. Deidre and I just look at each other like, did she really just do that? Just let me preface this by saying Dawn had her fair share of drinks and you 4 who read this know Dawn when she drinks a little more than she really should, especially when she's saying the room is sorta spinning. Ok, now that Dawn goes, "does that really work to get a guy to follow a girl?" Lil Joel tells me yes, but then goes on to say he's just long time friends with them etc etc etc. I'm thinking that's the biggest bunch of crap I have ever seen. THEN he says to me that if I'll just jingle my keys and yell rally he'd follow me. I was like I don't think so, maybe some other time. I mean really? Do I seriously look like someone who would do that?!?!?!? I told V about it and she told me she didn't think that was going to become my go-to move. She's spot on with that one! Ridiculous.

Times, they are a changing

There's some things that have been happening at work and to be quite frank it's ridiculous. And by ridiculous I mean grown women throwing temper tantrums, then writing official notes to the boss without one shred of factual information in it only to make themselves look like the victim instead of the perpetrator. That shit drives me crazy. I don't understand the point of lying when there's too many people who witness this outburst that can go, "um no that's not how it happened." I'm guessing this person was also the type who was a tattletaler as a young child. You know the child everyone hated and wanted nothing to do with, but didn't have a clue that's why everyone hated her, so she was a victim of being hated for no reason. Yeah, I work with that person. Aren't you jealous?

And while I'm on my soapbox, I don't understand some people and the way they rationalize themselves. If I hear about all the time you have to go to shows and watch TV marathons and scrapbook and make this or cook that and clean this or drink that, then you've got time to find a J-O-B. It's that simple. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm trying to be realistic. If there ever was a truer statement, then it's this: The $buck$ stops here. And from what I hear it's stopping soon.

OK, I'm off my rant.

On a happier note, Dawn has a date tonight. Wish me luck :)

Recitals

So, I survived this past Saturday. I was in the auditorium for 12 hours. I got there at 9 am and left at 9 pm. It was a very successful day. My classes did very well on their dances. My intermediate baton class all caught their toss turn arounds. That was an AMAZING accomplishment. I managed to snap one picture the entire day. The above is a picture of my 3-4 year old class. Aren't they cute?!?!

After recitals I met up with Deidre and we went to Adairs. How I managed to still be awake, I have no idea, but I made it all the way until I got home at 4 am! Michelle and Courtney came out to Adairs with us. Courtney had been to some 80s party and showed up looking like Suzanne Sommers a la Crissy Snow. Funny! Afterwards we went to eat at Cafe Brazil. My banana chocolate chip pancakes were incredible! Michelle was on some kick about bringing back the polaroid camera. She even polled the table next to us. It was funny. I think the concensus was it's instant gratification. I mean who doesn't want to "shake it like a polaroid picture?" haha
