Hi, it's me

Yeah, wow I forgot about blogs and the fact that I used to write in one every once in a while. And I just caught up on 3 months worth of blog posts by other friends. Whew.

So last night Deidre and I went to see Flogging Molly at House of Blues. That is a whole 'nother world right there. The band was fantastic! They had me dancing in my seat, very lively. The crowd...nuts. The GA crowd mosh pit...If I had been down there instead of our really nice 2nd row seats, I'd have another broken ankle. INSANE. crowd surfing. you name it we saw it. crazy.

I went to the doctor on Monday and was told the break in my ankle had bridged over so I was to stop wearing the boot and continue to go to physical therapy for one more month. It's not completely mended, so I'm still not supposed to dance when I'm teaching. Yeah, you want to know how well I did at that yesterday? I don't listen very well! I didn't put my tap shoes on or I probably would be in serious trouble today! I'm limping around as it is today. But, more classes to teach tonight...sigh....

In 2 weeks I'm going to NYC for....I know this sounds weird....the 2nd annual Texas Independence Day concert in NYC. You read that right. BUT, the bands.....Pat Green, EYB, and Reckless Kelly....I mean favorites in my favorite place with some of my favorite people. It's going to be fun, fun, fun. I'm just hoping the blizzard like conditions cease before we get there!! We're going to tour the new Yankee Stadium and see a musical while we're there too. YAY, I'm so excited!

Tomorrow if the weather cooperates I'm going with Deidre, Lori, and Heather to see Willy Braun at House of Blues. Yippee!

This weekend....I have no plans yet....but it's only Wednesday...I've got time to find trouble!

BIRTHDAY!!

Well, I'm another year older. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. And I love birthdays and I celebrate them in an over the top kind of way. I know some people don't get that, but it's just my thing. Christmas is some people's thing, birthdays are mine.

So this year as I turned 34 I planned a whole weekend because, well, my b-day fell on a Friday! Deidre, Mom, Gina, and I went to see Jim Brickman in concert at Nokia Theater. Holy hell was it awesome. And let me just tell you about the Italian Canadian pop singer, Mark Masri, that had our eyes popping out of our head when he walked out on stage. Scrumptious. And his voice: AMAZING. Afterwards they did a meet and greet in the lobby and I took his picture, nonchalantly which actually turned into him seeing me take it, but oh well it was worth it! I now have a new screensaver on my phone. heehee

Saturday night Deidre and I (for less storytelling purposes only) finally ended up at Opening Bell Coffee shop to hear Alex Dezen of The Damnwells play acoustic. I was mesmerized. He is truly talented. I never wanted him to stop playing! I'm so glad we went. Afterwards we headed to Adairs for a birthday celebration with Michelle. WOWZA is all I can really say about it. If I had to pick Mo Robson out of a lineup I wouldn't be able to because I can't tell you one song he sang or what he even looks like. I think I had 5 or 6 drinks maybe and one shot. At closing time we didn't have a ride either because the car was at Mockingbird station....that's part of the storytelling I left out. So at 3 am when Lil Joel was taking us to Deidre's car so we could go home......yeah.

Here's some memorable quotes:

  • Ladies can you still text with the lights turned down this much?
  • Are we in the right place? None of these pictures look like where we are sitting.
  • The only spare seats are right in the front row. Fabulous.
  • I need a fork. (3 times at least)
  • How about I'm going to make a request and play the song I want to play?
  • riding in taxi, there's a loud THUD. OMG was that a baby?
  • A BABY! NO! I have 5 babies of my own.
  • I've never walked in through the front door at Adairs. Feels weird.
  • You see Kings of Leon over there? He's mine I saw him first.
  • Ok I will go talk to him and find out his name.....
  • DAWN RENEE what are you doing you were supposed to go talk to him! Me: Sorry I had to pee first!
  • love you? I lust after you.
  • Joel what time will you be done here? Can you please give us a ride home? we have no transportion here
  • "Where's my jacket?" "You're wearing it." "oh."

Coconut Loco

Last Wednesday I had a girl's dinner with Heather, Tracey, and Deidre. We ate at my favorite Chinese restaurant. I hadn't seen Heather or Tracey in what seemed like years! I enjoyed catching up. Our lives go in so many different directions these days that it's nice to stop and spend a couple hours together doing something non music related.
On Thursday Deidre, Allegra, and I went to HOB and saw Needtobreathe. AMAZING! Such a magical night. I fell in love with a banjo player. Deidre fell in love with Matthew Mayfield. He had the flu. Deidre told him she loved him eventhough he had the flu. He was gracious. We bought his cds. one word: LOVE!
Friday, we passed up seeing EYB at Gilleys for some Braun brothers at Hanks. I agree with V, Gary needs to cut his hair, shave, bathe, whatever. Didn't stop me from looking at him. haha It was a great show. Jordan, Lori's daughter, and I stood front and center. She'd never done that before. Micky bent down and played the guitar at her and smiled. She swooned. It was so stinking cute. She was a fan of standing at the front of the stage.
Saturday I really didn't have plans, so Mom and I ate a late lunch at La Madeline and then did some shopping. Whilst shopping I got the best text EVER from Lori asking if I wanted to go with her, Jordan, and Cori to see Reckless Kelly. I mean how could I pass up seeing 4 Brauns in one weekend?!?! They played 2 new songs that will be on an album apparently coming out in February. Willy looked HOT. Then I was snapped back into reality when V text me and said...."not to alarm you but Willy is wear the EXACT SAME outfit as last night." It's ok, he smelled good, so he had to have showered, right? haha ok, ok, it's Dirty, but whatever. The setlist was amazing. The night was amazing. Jordan and I stood front and center again. We sang together. It was fun! Jordan asked me if I thought David looked like Mike Eli with his hair like that. I could see what she was saying. I told her, yeah maybe, but David has better hair. haha I love her.
Sunday I went to my grandparents to visit. My Papaw looks so much better since he got the steroid shot in his back for his herniated disc. Their kittens have grown up. They are so stinking cute. If you know of anyone wanting a kitten, let me know. I took pictures and can share them if they're interested.

On the agenda this week: Drew Kennedy at Adairs Thursday night, Charming Gardeners at the Doublewide Friday night, Eyb & Gary Allan at Starplex Saturday night. Should be an awesome weekend!

Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious

Hello everyone. All 5 of you.

Everyone at my work is deathly ill. They have been for 2 weeks. Even my mother. I've somehow managed to not get sick. I think it has something to do with the weather as to why the illness is lingering everywhere. I bathe in antibacterial here at work about every 5 minutes. And if they cough in my vicinity I spray lysol in the air. I will not get sick. I will not get sick. I. will. not. get. sick. Does that work saying it 3 times like Beetlejuice?

This past weekend was fun. On Friday night we went to the Doublewide and saw a really fun band called The Room Sounds. The other 2 bands, eh. They are from some northern state and just moved to Frisco, Texas of all places. We talked with them for a bit. I hope we go see another show. They gave us a free sticker. I love free stuff! Afterwards we hit up Adairs for a late night grilled cheese and fries. It was crazy in there. On Saturday Deidre and I went to see the Charming Gardeners. The girl that sings in this band was great and I love the songs. Can't wait for a cd! It was over right before 10 so we went to City Tavern and met up with Robby and Matty to see Charlie Shafter. I'm not sure why I didn't notice it before, I think it was the hat the first time, but Charlie Shafter is CUTE! And I still love his music. And I was blowing up V's phone with all kinds of texts. Thanks for humoring me. I even managed to talk to him. Go me! On Sunday, Julie and Deidre and I went to see "Mary Poppins" and then walked around the Fair looking for the new fried foods. The musical was just as spectacular as it was in NYC. At the Fair we had a corny dog, fried peaches n cream, fried grilled cheese, fried cheesecake, and fried pecan pie. All very good. I think the fried cheese cake was my favorite. However, by 9 pm that night I had a stomach ache! Good grief. Good thing it's only once a year!

OH! We saw Oprah while we were there. She came in to the Embarcadero building and tried all the fried crap we were trying. She was filming a bit for her show the next day. The whole friday crew was with her. It was all very exciting....if you like that sorta thing.
