So I started off the year at Lori's apartment with her, Deidre, Jordan, and Jake. Lori's son is so cute. He came into the room and hugged Deidre and I and said, "Thank you for coming. Happy New Year." We watched "Mamma Mia," drank wine then champagne, watched the ball drop in NYC, then rung in the New Year on channel 8. The best part of the night was Jordan watching the Jonas Brothers on tv. She was trying to record it with her phone. OH! And she took me to her room to show me the life-size cutout of Joe Jonas hanging on her wall that she got for Christmas...I kid you not she opened the door and I was taken back to 1988 when my walls were adorned with NKOTB, especially Joey Mac. Her room looked just like mine, just a different generation and a different band.
Friday night I went to a baby shower for my friend, Maritza, who was in town from NYC for the holidays. I've known her since we were in jr. high. And the funny thing is, we both look just like we did back then. I don't think either one of us has aged! haha I was glad to see her. We used to see each other twice a week, but since she got married and moved to NYC I've seen her maybe twice in the past 1 1/2 years! I've missed her! It was fun hearing about her new life up there.
New Year's Eve morning my friend's Mom died. We all knew it was coming. She had been battling illness and was just diagnosed with a brain tumor, so they've basically been keeping her pain free until the inevitable. I spent Saturday attending the funeral. Now funerals are sad, but they always bring people together that haven't seen each other in a long time. I experienced this. I enjoyed seeing these people despite the reason we had all come together.
Saturday evening Mom and I went to half-priced books. The whole time I'm piling books in the carrier I'm hearing an old college professor yelling at my class about never buying a book a half-priced books because the author never gets one cent of that money. Well, then don't sell your damn hard back books for $30 or more. So, to spite him, I spent $100. Go me!
Sunday I got had lunch with my grandparents! We met at our favorite Chinese food. It was so yummy! I'm so lucky to still have a set of grandparents still alive that I can spend time with. I am blessed.

I actually have things to write about!
Ok, first Adairs last weekend was fun. I saw lots of things in one place that a person should never have to witness even once. Grandparents mugging it down at the bar, then behind us. Break dancing karate kid. China representation. Woman and barstool falling to floor. Same woman having to be carried out of bar because she's so drunk. Matt Powell writing lyrics down on an Adairs notepad, claiming "I do this all the time." Drew Kennedy with a wedding veil on. Joel kicking us out at 2 am out the back door. Good times. Here's some pics:

Second, I've got a psycho woman story for you. Last week my mother petsat for this couple that was going on vacation to Mexico. When she came in to drop off the key she was telling my Mom and another girl we work with about how horrible her husband was and how they were gonna get a divorce and she didn't know if one of them would be coming back alive. yada yada yada. Fast forward to this past Sunday afternoon. Said woman calls our house we let the machine get it. She starts off telling mom thanks for taking care of the dog but that she wasn't going to pay her because Mom was supposedly in on some conspiracy to have her commited 4 years ago when the family went to Hawaii. And how dare my Mom turn against her, etc, etc. Then said if you want to be paid you'll need to talk to my husband but good luck at getting any money from him. So my Mom calls her back and gets her machine. She leaves a message stating she has no clue what this woman is accusing her of but that she would be paid one way or the other. Lady calls mom back. Yells all the above mentioned at my Mom and says she's not paying her then hangs up. Mom calls this woman's son and leaves a message that his Mom is calling her accusing her of stuff and refusing to pay her and wants the son to call back with husband's number. 45 minutes later the woman calls back. We let the machine get it. She calmly apologizes for what she did to Mom and says it all had to do with some computer cables that were missing and she thought Mom took them but it turned out to be her husband and he was a horrible man and that she would come to pay her on Monday. Ok, now it's Monday. News report: Allen Woman murders husband on Sunday evening by stabbing him multiple times, beating his head in with a rock, then slashes his wrists! You've probably all seen it on the local news if not read it in the newspaper if you live in Dallas. Now we're just waiting for the police to call us since I'm sure Mom's number is on her caller id several times.
Third, 2 of my dogs had to spend the night in jail because on Saturday when we left for lunch for 2 hours the fence blew over and they got out. Probably ran amuck through the neighborhood for an hour then got picked up by animal control. After some miscommunication on their part, we finally got a call on Sunday afternoon that our dogs were at the pound so we went to pick them up. Our dogs are microchipped. I highly recommend microchips because that's how they were identfied!

Friday nights....
I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I ate tons of food all in one sitting that day at my grandparents. I had this dessert plate in front of me that I had prepared only to ask for some plastic wrap because I just couldn't eat it! But, no worries I managed to eat it on Saturday! Last Friday night I went out with Heather and Jamie. Thank you Heather for taking us to Monica's before the festivities..it was jst as yummy as I had remembered! After we ate, we went to watch the Stars lose, then we headed to Gilley's for Brandon Rhyder. Ladies get in free and $2.75 you call its was a very nice surprise whe we got there! Brandon was great. I hadn't seen hi in forever. Finally got my picture taken with him! Go me! Ran into some girls I used to teach dance to. Now they can get into bars. I'm getting OLD. After Gilley's we went to Adairs where I got to see little Joel. That was a nice surprise. I hadn't seen him in forever. Plus, we got to introduce Jamie to Adairs finally! I had a really great time!
Last night (friday) I met up with Deidre & Michelle at The Loon. Interesting place. It was so loud in there. Before I knew it we were surrounded by like 6 lawyers/attorneys, some drunker than 80 aliens. The atmosphere was different, so it was nice for a change. But, boo on them for not have red bull. Afterwards we went to Adairs. I had one drink and ran into Nicole there. Deidre & Michelle left for the dragonfly, but I stayed and hung out with Nicole for about an hour then headed home for some sleep before I had to work this morning.
Today our 57 inch HDTV is being delievered. Can't wait for that!
I know I entertained V with my Braun banter last night, but she started it by texting me!
